Keep it inclusive

Motion design should be accessible to as many people as possible. Inclusive design makes your content more usable, understandable, and respectful of different needs and preferences.

Start with clear visuals. Use large, readable text and high contrast between background and foreground. Avoid color combinations that are hard to see for color-blind viewers. Don’t rely on color alone to explain things — use labels, icons, or shapes too.

Add subtitles to all videos with narration. This helps people who are deaf, non-native speakers, or watching without sound. Keep the captions concise and easy to follow.

If your animation uses quick flashes or rapid motion, consider offering a slower version. Some viewers may have sensory sensitivities or cognitive challenges. Designing with them in mind improves the experience for everyone.

Make sure your motion communicates clearly even without sound. If your content can’t be paused or slowed down, avoid overloading the screen. Give ideas room to breathe.

Inclusive motion design is thoughtful motion design. It puts people first and ensures your message reaches the widest audience possible.
